At Honeybees today, we were told the story of Valentine's Day.
Once upon a time, there was a King. He had a daughter named Aurora. The King put a soldier to guard his daughter. The soldier's name was Valentine. The soldier and Aurora became friends. One day, Valentine gave a rose to Aurora. Another soldier saw him do so. He went and complained to the King. The King punished Valentine and put him in the dungeon.
Another soldier, who did not know that Valentine was being kept in the dungeon, left a sword in the dungeon. Valentine used the sword to break open the gates of the dungeon and escaped. He went to Aurora's room, which was near the dungeon, and knocked. Aurora would not open the door. So he said - "It's me - Valentine."
Aurora got very excited and started shouting in joy. Valentine shushed her and told her to talk in whispers, as otherwise someone would come. Aurora then opened the door and Valentine went into her room and told her - "Let's go far away."
And then Aurora and Valentine ran away together.
That's why we celebrate Valentine's Day.
