Don't trouble my friends

One of my best friends in school is Suhani. Yesterday, two boys - Ved and Purab - we being very mean to her and even hit her. I did not like that one bit. First I told them to stop, but they didn't listen. Since my mummy and papa have told me not to hit people, I went and told Bharti Teacher about what Ved and Purab were doing. Then Bharti Teacher scolded both of them and both of them started crying and eventually said sorry to Suhani.

Needless to say, Suhani was very happy about this.

Ved is so funny..

My friend Ved is very funny.

Yesterday, I had told his Mummy - Chaitali Aunty - that I was going to come over to their house today evening for dinner. I had even told her that I wanted to eat cheese dosa. Of course Ved knew about all this as we had discussed it together.

Today, I got a bit late coming back from Honeybees. Also, after I came, I met Papa downstairs in the parking lot. When I told him that I wanted to go straight to Ved's house to play and have dinner. But Papa being Papa, he insisted that I come upstairs once and then go.

So of course I got a bit late.

In the meanwhile Ved was getting very impatient. When Chaitali Aunty asked him what happened to me, he said - "Keshav must have gone to Suhani's house. That's why he has not come!!"

How funny he is, isn't he?.

A good boy gets good surprises

Today I have been a very good boy. I did not wake up even once last night and did not call Mummy or Papa. I got up by myself in the morning and went to Papa. (I did go once to tickle Mummy but according to Papa that is being naughty but not bad - naughty is allowed but bad is not)

When I asked Papa if I could play with his iPad, he told me that I could but after I had finished my milk and done potty. I drank my milk without any fuss or drama. I did potty without being told twice and did not scream or shout at all while doing potty.

As I went to play with the iPad, Masi told me that I should brush my teeth first. I went and brushed my teeth as well as did my gargling without any  fighting, shouting or crying.

When I again went to play with the iPad, Mummy told me that I had to finish my worksheets. I wanted to play with the iPad but Mummy requested that I sit with her and finish my worksheets first as she could then get busy with her other work. Once again, I went and sat down with her to finish my worksheets without so much of a fuss.

Papa went out in the meanwhile to get some vegetables and other things that Mummy had asked him to get. He called asking which sweets I wanted. I told him I want Badam ki Katli, Gulab Jamun, Motipaak and Sandesh. He said I should not be too greedy like a Greedy Poo and I would get any one sweet. So then I settled for Badam ki Katli which is my big big favourite.

After some time when Papa came back, he told me he had some surprises for me. He said that since I had been very very good all morning, I deserved some special surprise. He asked me to guess the surprise and after some tries I figured out that alongwith Badam ki Katli, he had also got Motipaak. Yum yum...

What I didn't know that he had also got some kachori-subzi - again a big big favourite of mine.

WOWOWOWOW....

I am too big for Papa's lap

In the morning, it is usually Papa who wakes me up. Since I do not get up easily, he picks me up from my bed and takes me out. Then I keep lying in his lap for as long as I can (to avoid having to drink milk).

Same happened this morning.

As I lay in Papa's lap, Papa told me - "Keshav - When you were small, you used to fit easily in my lap. Now you have become so big, you don't even fit in my lap!!"

I replied - "Papa, that has to happen as i grow bigger. Tell me, do you fit in your Papa's lap???"

Keshav has 3 buttons...

Today, as we were driving in Baba's car to the airport, I was chatting away as usual. Baba asked me if I could ever remain quiet. So then I told them my secret.

I have three buttons - One is to speak. When I press that then I start to talk. The second button is that of pause. When I press that then I only speak with my mouth closed. And then is the third button which says no speak. When I press that button then I do not speak and remain totally quiet.

I want my own Ra.one..

Day before yesterday, I went to see Ra.one with Mummy, Papa, Dadu, Chacha and Chachi. I thought that boy's Dad was very cool. He made a video game for his son just to make him happy.

Today as I was playing the plane landing game on Papa's ipad, on my way back from Kolkata to Mumbai, I had an idea. I told Papa to make a video game for me which I could play on the ipad. It would be exactly like the plane landing game but it would have aeroplanes which would fly must faster and land much faster. These planes would also have names painted on them like Jet Airways, Jet Konnect, Jet Lite and other names.

My Family

A couple of days ago, Bharti teacher told us in school that we would have to draw our family picture. Each of us practised hard at home. Mummy also helped me practise a lot and gave me some ideas on what I could do. Little did she know that I knew exactly what I wanted to draw.

So when I got the drawing back from school, there were six people in the family: Mummy, Papa, Keshav, Parth (my little brother), Suhani and Sanikka (Suhani's baby sister).

Don't want to shock Papa

Yesterday, at AVM, we had a traditionals day. All the boys and girls wore traditional Indian clothes. Some of the boys wore kurta-pajama, some others wore kurta with jeans and 1-2 even wore kurta with dhoti. The girls were typically wore salwar-kurta except my two dear friends Shani and Adya. Adya was wearing a purple coloured lehnga and Suhani was wearing a blue coloured sari. I thought Suhani was looking prettier but for some reason Mummy felt that Adya was looking prettier (strange because she didn't see either of them).

In the evening, I was telling Mummy how Suhani must have worn her sari. When Papa came home, Mummy told him about my acting.

Papa: "Keshav - please show me also how Suhani wore her sari."

Keshav: "Papa, I cannot show it to you."

Papa: "Why Keshav? Why can you not show it to me?"

Keshav: "Papa, I cannot show it to you because you will get SHOCKED."

Keshav prepares for Holi Dance

On October 9th, in our school, we are going to perform in the Bal Satsang. Bal Satsang is a program where all the children perform something and all the parents come and watch.

This year, we are going to dance on a song about Holi. We will carry Water-guns (though there will be no water in them) and colours, etc. In my performance there will be 5 girls and 5 boys and we will form dance partners and dance. The teacher also showed us the dance steps today. It sounds like a lot of fun and I am looking forward to it.

Of the 5 partners, I remember 4 - Keshav and Adya, Jeet and Suhani, Akshit and Nishika, and Ved and Avni. Now the teacher know how good friends Suhani and I are. Still she did not make us partners. Infect, she called up Mummy in the evening and even told her that she knows that Suhani and I are very find of each other. Still she did make make Suhani and Me partners. I am quite upset with her for this.

Important Discussion

Today, Suhani, Ved and I had a very important discussion. We three got together and were discussing that one day we will all not come to school. We decided that on Friday we will not come to school. Then everyone will miss us. So they will also not come. We will tell all the children not to come. We will tell the teachers not to have any classes for us that day.

Only the big children will come to school that day. And ofcourse, the teachers will also come.

And we will have one big party that day.

Keshav dreams of Cars

Last night I had a dream about Cars. All my favorite race cars were there including McQueen, King, ChickWick, and their friends. They were all having a race. Except ChickWick who was in the parking because it is always crashing into everyone else and so was not allowed to race.

I made a small TV screen and put it up so that I could see the race as well.

And there were two computers, one big and one small, which were showing which car is racing well and which car is not racing well. There were also some narrators who were also cars. They were telling which car is winning and which car is driving well and which car is not driving well. They were discussing everything so that the children could know.

Keshav the Politician

Papa and Mummy are always fighting about whether I am a Calcutta buy or a Delhi boy. Papa wants me to be a Calcutta boy while Mummy wants me to be a Delhi boy.

Both agree that I am a Mumbai boy for sure.

Couple of days ago, as we were having dinner, they started arguing about this again. They do not understand that it does not matter. So then, having come under a lot of pressure to take sides, I finally admitted that I am a Calcutta boy.

Papa was delighted and started laughing. Mummy however, was very sad and started sulking :(

To make Mummy happy, I went to her and told her in her ear that I am a Delhi boy also. She got very happy. I know how to make her happy. I know how to make both of them happy.

I told her not to tell Papa, but she could not resist and promptly told him and tried to gloat.

At which point they both looked at me and said - "Keshav - you politician!!!"

Girlfriends and Boyfriends

All the boys in my class are already my friends. I used to always sit with them in Playschool C. In the month of April, 2011, I went to Prep 1B. Even here, very soon all the boys became my friends. My mummy used to keep telling me to make new friends. So one day i decided to start making new friends. Since only girls were left, I had to start making friends among them only.

From that day on, I only sit with the girls in my class and become friends with them. So far i hae become friends with Suhani, Preesha, Anika, Sai Sampada, Saanika, Shruti, and so on. If one of them is absent then I sit with another of the girls with whom I want to be friends.

So now, all the boys in my class are my boyfriends and all the girls are my girlfriends.

Mummy thinks I am duhhhh....

Sometimes I think our parents do not give us enough credit. They think they are the only intelligent ones and we do not know anything.

Like earlier this evening, Mummy came out of the shower and asked me -"Keshav - can you see any red red here on my forehead?"

Keshav - "Arre... What is this red red you are talking about? I don't understand. Are you talking about the sindoor?"

Mummy - "Arre... How do you know about sindoor?"

Keshav - "I know it."

Mummy (astonished) - "Acchha.. Do you know why I wear this sindoor?"

Keshav - "I know everything... It's because Papa likes it."

Suhana Safar

A few days ago, a new girl joined our class - Suhani. She is very pretty and I like her a lot. I think she also likes me. We both stand together in the morning assembly, we sit together in class, etc.

I had mentioned about her to mummy and papa. True to their nature, they started asking me 1001 questions about her and what we did. They do not understand that we have so many things to do in school that there is very little time left.

They started making fun of me. In the morning if i would not drink my milk, they would tell me to drink fast or else someone else would stand with Suhani in the assembly.

To satisfy their curiousity i started telling them some story or the other.

The other day, it was Suhani's turn to be the star child. When the teacher asked us her qulities, I said that she s pretty. Ved also said she is pretty (grrrrr....). Teacher said she colours nicely. And so on.

When I told this to mummy-papa, they started asking me when I was going to become the star child. How do I make them understand that the teacher decides who becomes star child and when and that my turn has not yet come.

I did not want to disappoint them. So the next day i told them that I became the star child. As for my qualities - I made pretty into handsome, colours well, smiles always, and so on. For once mummy even asked me - "Keshav - are you sure? Did you really become the star child or are you telling us stories?"

Of course I was telling them stories. But I did not want to disappoint them so I insisted that I had become the star child. Papa, always the suspicious one, even told her to check with the teacher in the Open House.

Dutifully, Mummy asked the teacher about Suhani and me in the Open House. Ufff... If only she had not listened to Papa. The teacher promptly told her that Keshav has not yet been made star child as his turn had not yet come. She also told mummy that I mentioned to her about how Suhani had come to my house and we had a great time together. She also told Mummy that if Suhani is thirsty, Keshav wants to drink water. If she has to go to the washroom, Keshav has to go also. Now who is telling stories!!!!!

And mummy.. She promptly called up Papa and told him. Now Papa will really trouble me anne he gets home. I have had it.

Only saving grace is.. Tomorrow morning - Suhana safar aur ye mausam hasin...

I look like Papa

It was 730am. I had cozily snuggled between Mummy and Papa, hugging each of them one after another.

Suddenly Mummy goes - "Keshav - You look like your Papa. Why do you look like your Papa? Why don't you look like me?"

I thought for a bit. This question had been chasing me for a while now. And then I said - "Because God made me so. He he..."

Keshav questions Papa's managerial skills

A while ago, Mummy and I left for Delhi to meet Nana-Nani. I said bye to Papa, Arjun Bhaiya and Masi. As we were about to leave for the airport, I realised that we had not locked the house. Some thief could come and steal all my birthday gifts and other things kept in the house.

Me: "Mummy, you haven't locked the house. Some thief could come and steal from our house? You should lock it."

Papa: "Keshav, but Arjun Bhaiya and Masi are at home only. And I am also not going to Delhi. So I will also be there. So there is no problem."

Me: "Will you be able to manage it, Papa? Are you sure?

Keshav knows all about cricket

I know all about our Indian cricket team. Yesterday, I was telling Fariyaaz Uncle all about it. I told him that our best batsman is Sachin Tendulkar. We have a lot of other batsmen as well - Yuvraj, Dhoni, Raina, and so on. We also have some good bowlers like Zaheer Khan. Harbhajan cannot bat. He can only bowl.

Then when Mummy and I were sitting at the doctor's clinic, I was trying to read what was written on my cricket bat. With great difficulty (and a little bit of help from Mummy), I managed to figure it out - "Dhoni Dhamaka".

As I was mulling over it, I realised that no one had ever taken me for a cricket match ever.

Me - "मम्मी, आप तो मुझे कभी क्रिकेट मैच में ले कर ही नहीं गए!!!" (Mummy, you have never taken me for a cricket match ever!!)

My buddy bats for me..

At Oberoi Springs I have a dear friend - Ved. We go to school together in the same mini-van, now we are in the same class as well and when at home, we play a lot together. We fight a lot also, like the other day when he and Sanath decided to play cricket and did not let me play with them.

But he is also very cute. The other day when I wanted to play with him and not go for my skating class, he walked all the way with me to skating class and made sure I went for it.

Ved has a very nice tool kit in his house. Whenever I go there, we only play with that and repair everything that is in sight. Yesterday, Ved's Mummy went to the market to buy a birthday present for me. She got a tool-kit for me which was different from the one Ved has.

Ved: "Mummy!!! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?? Keshav will not play with this tool-kit. I am telling you. He wants one like me only. What have you done!!!"

Then finally Ved and his Mummy hunted a tool-kit similar to the one he has. And I am going to get it tomorrow during my birthday party. Yippeee...

Keshav is a big boy

Very soon I will be FOUR years old - On 13th April. We are celebrating my birthday on 10th though.

Four is very big. So now I have started to act like a big boy. I try and eat my breakfast on my own. I do a lot of other things on my own.

Tonight, however, I surprised Papa. After having a long chit-chat with Papa, I was trying to sleep alone in my room. Papa was sitting outside and working and watching TV. Before sleeping, I was watching the BMW and Speed Racer videos on Papa's blackberry.

As I prepared to close my eyes, I felt like I wanted to go to the toilet. So I got up, opened the bathroom door in the dark, switched on the light (after standing on the stool ofcourse) and started to pee.

Just then Papa came in to check what was happening. First he was surprised to not see me in bed, then even more surprised to see me in the bathroom all by myself.

He stood around while I finished, washed my hands, switched off the lights and went back to bed.

I am a big boy now.

My first day in Prep I - B

I am now almost 4 years old. When I was almost 3 years old, I started going to Play School C at Arya Vidya Mandir. Now that I am almost 4 years old, I have started going to Prep I - B.

Last Friday was my first day in this new class. The best thing about Prep I -B, you know, is that both my friends from my building - Ved and Roan - are also in Prep I - B. We all go together in the same van and now we will sit together in class also.

Anyways, here is more about my first day to Prep I - B. As soon as I got off the van, one Didi asked me what my new class was. I told her that I have to go to Prep I - B. She then held my hand and took me to my new class. My friend, Ved - I think his legs were paining, was coming behind much more slowly and reached way after me. My other friend, Roan, did not come by the van that day. He had come by his car and had reached well before us. However, when I reached the class, I saw that Roan was sitting on the side-table and crying. He wanted to go back to his old class. His Mummy was also there and was trying to make him become quieten down.

Bharti Teacher, our new teacher, was already in the class and was doing some work. She was writing something on the books. Then someone got our handbooks and gave it to her. She stapled a note on it and gave it to each of us.

Bharti Teacher also told us that this year we have to a lot of studies. We will get big-big text books. But because it is the first day, we don't have to study today.

While Bharti Teacher finished all this work, Ved and I were chatting away. He has also joined Honeybees, though he is on a different day than me. So I was telling him about how much fun it is.

After all this we went to the big bathroom (not the babies one which Play School kids use), but the big one. We washed our hands there and then had our snacks. We got some very yummy macaroni there.

Finally, the school got over and we left to go into our van and come back home.

Funny Papa

Yesterday, while they were having dinner, Papa was telling Mummy something about my cough and fever. Mummy was not listening to him and not agreeing. I was sitting next to them and listening in.

Finally, when Papa could not make Mummy agree, he turned to me:

Papa: Keshav, your Mummy does not understand Hindi or English. Maybe we should speak in Chinese.

Keshav: Papa, your are so funny.. Chinese to khaate hai na!!!

When I become big..

When I was born, I was 100 small. Then I became 1 big, then 2 big and then 3 big. Now, I am almost 4 years old. In one month I will be 4 years old. Then I will be 5 years old, then 6 years, then 7 years, 8 years, 9 and then 10 years, then I will become so so big. I will not grow after 10 years because I will already be so big that the ceiling will break.

Then my head will come out on the 5th floor and I will be on the 4th floor (right now we stay on the 4th floor). Then I will eat food on the 5th floor and when I move, more ceiling will break.

Funny no..

Sleeping in the Van - Secret's out

Yesterday was a boy's only day as Mummy has gone to Delhi for a wedding. Papa had promised me that he would come back early, and he did. I had just woken up when he rang the bell and entered the house. He had promised to take me out for dinner.

Since there was some time for dinner, I went down with Masi to the play-area. Soon thereafter, Papa also came down. I wanted to get onto the swing and got Papa to push me while I enjoyed the ride. What made it better (or so I thought) was that my friend Roan was sitting on the swing next to me. Roan and I, along with Ved and others go together to school in our van and come back together too.

As soon as Papa found out Roan's name, he started talking to him (he had only heard Roan's name before this). He asked Roan whether we sat together in the van. He started asking Roan about what I did in the van and so on. I held on tightly to my swing as I hoped against hope that he would not spill my secrets.

However, what does a 3 year-old know about what to say and what to hold back. If only he had been a bit ahead in the years like me.

So like a 3-year old, half-brained fellow, Roan told Papa - "केशव तो van में सोता है." (Keshav sleeps in the van).

And Papa's questions started - "Do you sleep in the van? Really? Or just acting? While travelling both ways? Or just in the morning? In the afternoon, on the way back? How do you wake up? Who wakes you up when you get home? and on and on and on..."

Roan did the honours and answered some of these for him as well - "Uncle, Keshav sleeps when we are coming back from school. And then Ved checks to see if he is sleeping (and Roan shows how Ved pulls up my eyelid to check if I am sleeping or not!!). And then Ved wakes up Keshav like this!!"

I held my head and thought to myself.. wait till I meet Roan's Mummy or Papa. I will tell them so many stories about him, even if I have to make up some of them. And then I prepared myself for Papa's next round of questions!!!

How to make water-chestnuts

Today we went to Mainland China for dinner. Mahesh Uncle, Ramya Aunty and Aarushi had also come with us. There we ate something which had some water-chestnuts in it.

As I came home, I kept wondering how to make water-chestnuts. And then I understood. It is very simple. You take some water and mix some curd with it and you get water-chestnuts.

I told this to Mahesh Uncle. He also gave me one more idea on how to make water-chestnuts. He said that I could mix some water with nuts and put it on my chest. It would become water-chestnut!!!

I was misunderstood and misquoted

I would like to state that I have been misquoted and misunderstood with reference to my remarks on living alone.

I have no intent of living alone or of letting my parents go anywhere. Any other interpretation is a mere figment of imagination created by the media.

Hope this clarifies any confusion.

PS: Needed to make this clarification as I have been informed that I run the risk of being taken seriously on my previous comments.

I wanna live alone

When I will become big and when Parth will come out of Mummy's tummy, I will live alone. I will do all my work myself. Only Arjun Bhaiya will stay with me and cook food for me. No body else will stay with me.

Mummy will go and live with Nana-Nani, Papa will live with Ma-Baba, Masi will go to her home.

Cars in the family

Last night I dreamt of the various cars people in my family have.

My Papa has three cars. All are green in colour. One is a Honda City, one is Honda Jazz, and one is Honda Accord. My Mummy does not have any cars. She has to go with Papa only. She is Papa's wife, that is why. Also, she does not know how to drive a car.

I also have three cars. One is a Hyundai Santro, one is a Hyundai i-10 and one is a Hyundai Accent. Fariyaz Uncle and Maasi will have to go in one car only. There is a lot of place in my cars, so they can sit in the same car.

My Ma also wanted some cars. So I have given her Suzuki Alto, Suzuki A-star and Suzuki SX4. I have told her that she has to share them with Baba. If they do not share it then I will take them back.

Change of Career Option

I have not decided to become Winnie the Pooh when I grow up. I have a badge of Winnie the Pooh and I want to wear that. So maybe I will not become a Policeman after all.

As Winnie the Pooh, I will eat lots of honey and more and more honey.

My blanket of woes

Last night, when Mummy was sleeping with me (she was sleeping with me as I was being totally cranky and weepy), she was trying to cover me with two-two blankets. In any case I don't like to wear even one blanket, so two was totally out of the question.

As I was protesting, she suddenly let out a secret from the past. Something which was only faintly embedded in my memory but her reference to it brought back images as clear as if it was yesterday.

When I was a small baby, I used to sleep in my cot. Mummy would cover me up with blankets. Not one or two blankets, but many blankets. So many blankets that they would form a huge pile and touch the ceiling fan. Sometimes, the blankets would form a pile so high that it would even break the ceiling.

Over a period I got so scared of blankets that I refused to cover myself with any blankets. Everytime I would cover myself with a blanket, I would have this image of something big and huge going all the way to the ceiling. That is the secret of my fear of blankets. I don't want to blame anybody, but all parents should realise what happens when they make excessive use of blankets against their children.
